Computex 2009: Conqueror GPS with Radar Detector

by Administrator June 12, 2009 14:08

From memory, we never seem a GPS with real laser speed radar detector built-in. If the manufacturer's word is anything to go by, this 'BLINDER' GPS unit is the world first PND unit with GPS navigation and laser speed radar detector combo.

For those who have used GPS car units would know, GPS units have occasional troubles of telling the direction of speed cameras, and the speed camera location data is based on data stored with the map, not based on real-time detection. How the BLINDER works, is upon detection, the radar detector unit will transmit the GPS co-ordinate via wired connection or RF wireless transmission to the GPS unit for real-time map update. Kind of nice solution, however, it still needs to have two separate units for the function.

Here is a brief summary of key features:

1. Two separate navigation software can be installed at the same time, for instance, PaPaGo or RoadEasy. The user can switch in between.

2. Since most cars' speed meter don't match the real traveling speed, BLINDER allows some fine tuning of the speed that GPS measured to match with the car's speed meter.

3. Can specify which lane direction to detect.

4. The laser speed radar detector can be attached or detached to the GPS unit.

5. RRP at around NT$ 12000, available after Computex 2009 finishes; however, through which distribution channel is currently unknown.

Manufactured by Conqueror International, office website: www.radarway.com.tw

The unit itself is based on WinCE platform, please proceed to photo galley for more details.
