
In short, extend from smartphone to netbook. Warren East, CEO of ARM Holding, believes current notebooks' performance outperformed most users' performance need, therefore ARM processors, with lower energy consumption and perform on-par with netbook processors, stands in an advantageous position. From smartphone to the next level up, ARM brings forward the concept of a 'smartbook', which is essentially an always online notebook with large screen and standard keyboard. As a processor designer firm, ARM may not be able to predict how the trend will flow in terms of final (consumer) product, however, it is obvious that ARM believes in future netbook market.
