Every year, the Taipei Computer Association teams up with WiMAX partners to introduce a new application for WiMAX. Following the uses in medical emergencies and getting internet to cars traveling as fast as 80 km/hr, this year, WiMAX unveils their latest application in monitoring mudflows. This project was brought to life by a promised made by President Ma in WiMAX Taipei last year.
WiMAX has the advantage of high efficientcy and low form factor in base stations. Even though in Taiwan WiMAX is struggling to compete with the already popular cellular network and their carriers, WiMAX can still play a significant role in public infrastructure. The future of WiMAX in Taiwan would inevitably escalate from the consumer market to become part of the infrastructure.
