The powerful wireless AP: WNAP-3000PE (www.computex.biz)

Many people are annoyed about the weak wireless internet, and that’s why this kind of products is very popular recently. A Taiwanese company wants to do something to the poor wireless internet in their building so they import a wifi AP from Ruckus Wireless. Ruckus Wireless claimed that this Wifi AP can work over 2,500 square-foot and through the whole building (a sixth floor building). However, this wireless AP is still not perfect.
The signal is not stable and strong enough.

On the other hand, we’ve found another similar product to solve the poor wireless internet, the WNAP-3000PE which is made in Taiwan. The feature of this wireless AP is that it combines the new IEEE 802.11n and PoE. This means that you can plug this AP wherever you like as long as there is a socket and enjoy the high speed internet service.

These products will be convenient to many companies since they don’t need to set many access points or use some special way to fasten the internet speed. Still these products are not widely use among regular users, so it might take some time to find their real advantages and drawbacks.

The WNAP-3000PE adopts the IEEE 802.3af PoE which has enough power for regular usages such as powering IP telephones, wireless LAN access points and etc. We found the update version of this technology, the IEEE 802.3at PoE standard which just ratified at September 11, 2009. The IEEE 802.3at can provide 25W of power and in this way it can offer more high-power-consumption equipments to the users, such as cameras with pan tilt and zoom (PTZ). If there’s a wireless AP equipped with IEEE 802.11n and 802.3at PoE then we will see the most powerful AP ever.
