The WiMAX MID M0, the latest product of Dmedia, is like a mini computer with multi-media function and has built-in GPS. The resolution of this MID is almost as good as a 7” netbook. The feature of this MID is that it has combined with WiMAX technology so that it can provide you mobility internet connection, VoIP, and etc. However, most users don’t feel excited about the idea of WiMAX MID, after all, it is like a powerful PDA without cell phone function.
The situation is limited by the communication environment. We can tell this from the communication program provided by Tatung InfoComm. It seems that they want to replace ADSL with WiMAX and that’s all. They don’t have WiMAX telecommunication program. The ability of WiMAX should be able to take place of wireless internet, WiFi, and telecommunication; moreover, it can solve the last mile problem. So in this way, if WiMAX can combine with telecommunication, then our life will be easier and our telephone bill will be cheaper.
WiMAX mobile phone should be prevailing because the strong function of WiMAX can supersede the 3G and 3.5G. Today the WiMAX mobile phone is not common in Taiwan yet, and is too expansive. So we can see why the supplier presents the WiMAX MID.
